Men's Issues

Men often seek counseling concerning the following issues:

Sexual Compulsions and Behaviors

These compulsions may be associated with pornography or involvement in relationships outside of marriage. Many men feel and often realize that their sexual compulsions have driven a wedge between them and their wife or between them and their relationship with God. Often men feel overwhelmed with guilt, anxiety, and depression because of their actions. They may have made repeated attempts to quit certain behaviors. Counseling that focuses on change and a renewed relationship with God can help you find freedom from sexual compulsions and sexually addictive behavors. Changes in your behavior coupled with new ways of thinking can  enable you to find peace with yourself, God, and other people.

Work Related Issues

Most men find significance through their work. Work related issues can include dissatisfaction with your job, career transition, or unemployment. Career counseling can be an important step in reaching your goals.  Men who have been unable to find work or dislike their jobs often feel dejected and may also suffer a loss of self-esteem. Examining the most beneficial job search strategies and providing accountability in reaching your goals are just two ways that I can help. I have various career assessments and career tools at my disposal. These assessments are well researched and can help you widen your thinking in regard to career choices.

Expressing and Controlling your Emotions

The complaint I often hear from women is that "my husband and I do not seem to be able to communicate." Many men fall into one of two categories. The first extreme is to never voice your concerns and thoughts, but to keep everything bottled up inside. The second is to be overly aggressive to the degree that your wife and others are afraid of you. Counseling can help you understand you and your loved ones emotions. It can also help you start to make changes in your behaviors and how you relate to others.
